Effie told me to do it

I saw Hunger Games last night. Armed with the new Illamasqua Fundamental Palette, I now understand Effie Trinket.

The goodies ...

Illamasqua:

Nail Varnish - Nomad
Precision Ink - Scribe
Intense Lipgloss - Fierce
Fundamental Palette

Illamasqua Fundamental Palette:
Liquid Metal - Surge (pewter)
Cream Pigment - Bedaub (mint green)
Powder Shadow - Inception (violet),
Hype (yellow)

It must have been a rough ride to my house because it came sweaty and dirty.

Do you see the crust and beads of sweat? Click to enlarge. :D

This was pre- Hunger Games viewing.

This is my face with foundation.  Otherwise, I have on Fierce on my lips and Scribe on my lash line.  Later, I actually read the packaging for the Precision Ink and it clearly says NOT to put it on the water line. Woops. Great, I hope I don't go blind.

To avoid blindness I put Scribe on my upper eyelid.  This was not easy because I couldn't avoid getting it on my lashes.  To make it look okay I Tammy Faye Baker'd the hell out of my lashes.  I have L'Oreal Hip Kohl Eyeliner - Teal on my water line.

Nomad is sneaking in here a bit.
I did a swatch of Scribe on my hand and just left it on there to see how it would wear.
A couple hours after application, I broke a sweat and took a shower ... not too shabby.

A full 24 hours and another shower later.  Kind of impressive.

 Illamasqua - Nomad

Post Hunger Games: I knew immediately I had to put some color on my eyebrows.

I used Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow - Inception on my eyebrows and lined my upper eyelids.

I had L'Oreal Kohl eyeliner in Teal holding on for dear life from the night before. I like this the way it is, but I just had to add some black liner.

I put black liquid liner between my lashes (upper and lower) using L'Oreal Telescopic (lower set of pictures).  It's more dramatic, fo' sho'.

Initially when I thought about doing this whole look, I didn't think I would wear it out mainly because of the purple eyebrows.  But it ends up being a subtle pop of color.  Subtle glam, yea!

I also used Inception as a contour, yes, yes I did.

I have just a touch of blush (Maybelline - Pinch o' Pink) and the lips are a light mix of Revlon - Colorburst in Fuchsia (030) and Illamasqua - Fierce.

It's pink purple gorgeousness!

Thoughts so far ... I must play more with the other colors!

I'll get back to nails in no time. I just really love makeup too.

  1. Only you could make me consider wearing purple in my brows! You look beauteous in these colors! They would scare me off in 2 seconds flat typically, but I am rethinking my stance now. XOXOX

  3. These look amazing!! You have given me some cool ideas to try in terms of color pairing and new ways to wear bright colors. I love everything you did!! P.S. I hadn't noticed the different coloring of your eyes, but it's wicked cool!

    1. Yea, even though these colors are bold, I like to make them wearable. You can do the same for sure. Everyday awesome!

      P.S. :D Thanks!

  4. Anna...you are a GODESS! I love everything about all these looks, well, maybe except the almost blinding yourself because you put Scribe on your waterline incident *giving you the death glare for that* You know what? I think the purple eyebrows are freaking cool! Why not coloured eyebrows, I say?! Gorgeous, baby girl!

  6. Ha! @Maribeth! Right?! Who else could make purple eyeshadow on the eyebrows look so good?! =)

I have been DYING to get my hands on this collection *shoots insanely jealous look at Loodie* ; ) But the purple on the Eyebrows?! NEVER would have thought of that!! And I consider myself to be fairly color brave. It looks AWESOME! And totally not in the "whacky, trying to be obnoxious with color and get attention" way (which has it's place for sure, haha). It just looks... awesome! Like, I could wear that on a regular day around town (okay, maybe not too work, but a day out and about). Though, you do seem to have the just perfect color of eyebrows to pull this off, dark enough so it's not glaringly weird, but light enough that you can see the color. My eyebrows might be too dark for this, but I'm definitely going to be making an attempt! =)
I'm seriously impressed, and in LOVE with these colors and your take on them! Nice work! I WILL obtain this collection eventually... and I will definitely be trying that out!
    Thanks for the review!!

    1. Thanks so much Nina!! Seriously, I will be putting color on the brows more often now, it's kind of liberating. Like, "hell yea, I have colored brows" ... maybe the equivalent of bra burning in the late 60's? probably not but still. :P

  7. Oh... and for all the other colors. Fierce ~ love! I'm a bit traumatized that acropolips is not being released in the US... =/ I've already been thinking up ways to obtain it, probably not insanely difficult, just requires money that I don't particularly have a lot of. Damnit!

Scribe ~ I Die! And... kind of depressed that it's anti-waterline. Cause the picture of you with it on the waterline looks AWESOME! I'm getting it anyways, but not for the waterline. Humph. I can't believe you can use it as a nail art pen too! WHAT?! Amazing...

Nomad ~ So Good!! I'm in love with the PR pics with Stance layered over Nomad. Ruffian style? Reverse French manicure? I don't know nail art terms well enough to sound cool and name it, but it looks insanely awesome, and now I need both colors to copy and where. =)

Can you tell I'm a little excited about this collection... O__o Sorry for the essay! I haven't been this excited about a makeup collection in a bit, so I'm REALLY excited for this one. =D

    Thanks again!

  10. Not sure this color scheme would go with my flaming red hair! So I'll just say no. However, I am loving the nomad polish. That is for sure!

    1. I might have to agree. My mom has slightly different skin coloring and I'm not sure if exactly the same thing would work. BUT never say never!

  16. Holy crap this is fun Anna!! I loved looking at the way you chose to use the products - so original. 'Fierce' looks great on you, and actually 'Scribe' works with your skintone wonderfully - it can be stark but you managed to just make it look cool. Good work my dear :)

  18. Eyeliner is not as complicated as you think. Only include eyeliner, eye shadow or eyeshadow you can do the operation to get big eyes. Normally, for beginner eyelids, it is easier to use lead or eye shadow.Vietnam hair
